History

We’ve been printing since 1845, when well-known printer Frederick Pawsey first opened the doors to the business. Back then, we were a book-seller and printer located in Ipswich landmark ‘The Ancient House’. The company was then moved to far larger premises within the town and sold to the Harrison family, who actually managed the business right up until 1971 when the present owners took over.

We remained there until 1985 when, due to massive expansion, the company moved to its existing large scale site on the .

During the 70s and 80s we established a very good reputation as an award winning quality sheet-fed printer focusing on local, national and international companies, as well as local authorities, charities and central government departments.

In 1988 a reprographic plate-making company was bought into the Group to complement the already extensive in-house facilities. In addition the Company established itself in new markets by the introduction of a heat-set mini web printing press and continued to be at the forefront of technology with further investment in the pre-press area, enabling us to go directly from computer to plate.

Once established in the web offset market in 2004 we made a significant decision to invest further in this area resulting in the installation of a Komori 38S 5 unit 16 page web press, including spine gluing and rotary trimming allowing us to deliver finished products directly from the press, saving production time and money.

Not wishing to move away from our sheet-fed roots in 2008 we installed a 12 unit Mitsubishi Diamond 3000 Tandem Perfector + Mabeg reel sheeter B1 press which sat alongside our existing KBA Rapida 105 10 unit B1 press.

A 2nd Komori 16 page web was introduced in 2009 as we continued to have success in this particular field.

Whilst very proud of our long illustrious history, we are always looking to the future. We’ve come a long way since Mr Pawsey’s time. With over 120 highly trained staff running the most advanced printing and finishing equipment it’s a business that boasts an impressive annual turnover, alongside levels of customer satisfaction that are priceless.

We will continue to invest in both our people and our technology to ensure we live up to the high standards our customers have come to expect.
