ISO 9002
On the 12th July Ancient House Press gained accreditation to ISO 9002. ISO stands for "International Organisation for Standardisation" and incorporates the previous UK guideline of BS5750. It is recognised across industries as a standard of quality conformance and often used by purchasing personnel as a guide to companies that have traceability and control over their products and service.
Although AHP have always had control systems, it took around 18 months to document every procedure in the company into a single Quality Manual in line with requirements issued by the British Standards Institute (BSI). Regular meetings were held involving everybody in the organisation at all levels explaining the benefits that ISO9000 would bring. Additional to this, weekly meetings involving operational Directors and Managers were held to monitor performance whilst looking for ways to introduce new, and improve current, working practices for the benefit of the company and it's customers. The result has been steady decline in quality related costs with an improvement in machine efficiency and utilisation.
Later this year BSI are including into ISO9002 more customer feedback which Ancient House Press welcomes. The BSI outline is for continuous improvement programme between customers and suppliers so that any feedback can be used as a tool to improve communications.
