New Green Investment
Investment in a new system to deal with waste in the most environmentally-friendly and cost-effective way has just been announced by Ancient House Press.
The new waste management system at the Ipswich-based company, which represents an investment of £70,000, handles trimmed printers waste by automatically removing it from each machine through a suction point. The vacuumed waste is then taken out of the building and chopped before being placed in a compactor. Different grades of paper waste are also separated out before being collected for recycling by specialist company Bolton Brothers.
The system includes recycling warm air too, with the ducting air used to remove the paper waste filtered for dust and then fed back into the factory during the winter months to improve the heating efficiency of the plant. All fanning equipment is noise-screened to eliminate noise pollution.
Paul Sadler, AHP Operations Director said: Our new waste management system underlines our ongoing commitment to the environment. It encompasses not only paper waste, but also the recycling of dust-filtered warm air which is both cost-efficient and ensures a more pleasant working environment.
As holders of the ISO 14001 standard, environmental initiatives are at the top of our agenda and we have a rolling programme in place to review all aspects of our operation with this objective firmly in view.
