Ancient House Goes Green

Ancient House Press has just concluded the installation of a complete new Studio to accept and process files on behalf of their many valued Customers.

The Studio package designed and supplied by Agfa Graphics will speed up the workflow by over 200% and will also raise the Companies green credentials by eliminating chemicals and waste water. Studio Manager Jason Brooks says of the new Studio, “It is everything that we need to push us into the next phase of the Companies development. We take our ISO 14001 obligations very seriously and this new Azura processless plate will demonstrate that key investment decisions take the environment into consideration.”

The studio package includes two platesetters with a top speed of 80 plates per hour which will ensure that the large press capacity operated by Ancient House will always have the next set of plates waiting in the wings.

Version 9 of the award winning Agfa Apogee PDF automated workflow has been installed as part of the overall suite. This includes a Web approval application that thanks to HTML5 technology allows Customers to submit and approve pages using a whole range of mobile devices including tablets. Agfa’s unique imposition engine will also aid the Studio staff in streamlining the job preparation sequence and will replace older, less efficient software.

Two new Epson Stylus Pro 9900 printers will ensure that our customers receive the highest quality proofs with the widest colour gamut available. Each printer has X-Rite spectrophotometers built in to ensure that every proof is monitored for colour consistency and quality.

The complete infrastructure of the new Studio is driven by new high powered servers and associated computers all equipped with the latest software.
