New Colour Management System Puts AHP in the Pink

Ancient House Press, based on the in Ipswich, is continuing its strategy of investing in the latest technology with the purchase of a state-of-the-art colour management system.

The Bodoni software, called PressSign, is giving AHP customers unrivalled colour matching capability, with all proofs produced to ISO 12647-2. In turn this is reducing make-ready times and improving overall colour quality.

Paul Sadler, AHP Operations Director said: “This latest investment will benefit both our customers and staff. Traditional preparation of test sheets takes a great deal of time as each colour has to be read individually using a spectrophotometer. Now the process is much faster, with the new software scanning a sheet and instantly producing a report on each colour showing its overall score and suggesting the corrections that need to be made.

“Our new Mitsubishi press and the Bodoni software will enable us to print to a new level of quality.”

Six members of AHP staff from the Studio, Press and Management teams, have now completed the two day ISO 12647-2 training programme and are in the process of rolling out their new skills through the company.

The reporting software in PressSign can also provide a full readout of the thickness of the ink film, LAB values (the digital value of the colour) and dot gain (the amount that the halftone dot increases during the printing process).
