Keith Prepares To Pedal In The Land of the Pyramids
An Ipswich man is preparing for a 250 mile bike ride that will take him across an Egyptian desert later this year.
Keith Everitt is in training to take part in the River Nile Bike Ride to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
Ancient House Press, where he works as Operations Manager, is pledging its support in the form of sponsorship but Keith is looking to raise as much as possible for the charity which fights heart and circulatory diseases by funding research, education and lifesaving equipment.
Keith says: Everyone in our party of 30 doing this Bike Ride needs to raise a minimum of £2800 to participate. I am really grateful to AHP for giving such a generous donation but am appealing to other local companies and individuals to sponsor me and help raise the largest amount possible.
Our route runs from Esna to Luxor, mainly on roads but some are more like dust tracks! We also spend one day crossing the desert from Edfu to Aswan and at the end of the five days, have one day to recuperate and sightsee before coming home.
The longest distance we will be covering in a day is 77 miles. Most days start at 7am until 5pm and then we spend overnight on a boat which follows our route.
If you are interested in sponsoring Keith please email him on keveritt@www.ancienthouse.co.uk
